Dreams of a MAdman

            Adolf Hitler, the madman behind the Holocaust. Hitler rallied a lot of Germans to his side using his charisma. He blamed the Jews for Germany’s defeat during WWI, and because of low morale among Germans, they joined him. Hitler followed the ideas of Führerprinzip, which was a principle that relied on absolute obedience of all subordinates to their superiors (Wikipedia). He viewed himself as the leader in a government structured as a pyramid. 

            Hitler wanted to establish the Aryan Race as the dominant race. When he was a child, he drew a picture of a world of only blue eyes blond haired people. He proclaimed the Aryans, blond haired blue eyed people, where descendants of the ancient Greeks. At the 1936 Olympics, he wanted to show just how dominate the Aryan race was, but he failed when Olympic gold medalist Jessie Owens who left the Berlin Olympics with 4 gold medals.  (Hitler at the 1936 Olympics)

            Although Hitler was a pretentious jerk, I believe he was a good leader. If you’re able to gather almost a whole country to a cause, you’re a pretty good leader; even the cause is something as disturbing as the Holocaust. I still don’t understand Hitler’s reasons since he was Half Jew and he wasn’t Aryan.

Vladek Spiegelmen 

vladek is Arts father in the book Maus. vladek tells his son the horrific story of his phenomenal escape from the holocaust. As the story begins in 1978, he is married to his second wife Mala. Mala and Vladek dont exactly get along, they have all kinds of problems. Mala is furious that Vladek would never give her money even to buy things that she needs. Vladek worrys she might try to steal his money that he has taken a lifetime to save up. Vladeks married arts mother, Anja in Poland on 1937 , only two years before the Nazi invasion

                    Once i began to read the book "Maus" i began to notice small details about Vladek.
Vladek is a bit of this strange person, he sometimes seems so confused about certain situations. He likes to have things his way, he has to have the last word, and most of the time, a majority of the time, he gets things done his way.

                   When Vladek was younger he was considered extremely "Gorgeous". He was seemed kind of steady, like as though he has his life together. He had a job, and had his own apartment. He was quit the ladies man also. A bit too much of the ladies man. He had females all around the world, city to city. He was a faithful guy though, only one female at a time. Sadly what he would kind of do is, make a female for for him then just leave. He did stay with one female in particular for a while, which was a nice little female who wasn't all that good looking named Anja.

                  Also Vladek was a bit Money hungry, no not a bit, Vladek Was Money hungry. When he married, he worried if the female he was getting married too was wealthy or not. I mean, he made his own money also, but he needed a women with money.

                 There came a point of time in Vladeks life that he had to go to war. . .  That changed his life completely. I believe that is why Vladek is how he is today (well in the book "Maus"). He makes sure food doesn't go to waist,and he keeps things persist. Vladek isn't a bad guy, he's just a man who's seen and been threw a lot, which made him who he is today.But no one seems to see it.

                                                          Jewish Ghettos

       The Jewish Ghettos were located in Europe and were created, existed, because Jews were viewed as "foreigners". They were viewed that way because of their non-Christian beliefs and their place of origin. They placed them into strict regulated areas in some European cities.

                    


        They were basically put into a less fortunate environment from the others. They were abolished only to be rebuilt during WWII for torture and prosecution purposes. They built at least 1000 Jewish Ghettos. The Jewish people were first put into these small areas in 1939. The Jewish ghettos were surrounded by barbed wire, armed guards and brick walls. In some rural areas that Jews lived in were gathered to up to live in these places and had their belongings confiscated. They even deported Jews from Austria and Czechoslovakia to Poland, they would travel in train and some people died on the way. The living conditions were really bad, around 100,000 Jews died of starvation and disease during 1940 and 1942. Overcrowded families in single apartments They were told by a high commanding officer Adolf Eichmann that "There are no apartments and no houses - if you build your homes you will have a roof over your head. There is no water. The wells are full of epidemics. There's cholera, dysentery, typhus. If you dig for water, you'll have water".  People who couldn't work did not get food tickets to eat and starved. Some people ended up killing themselves to escape their life hopelessly.

            I think that these Jewish Ghettos were really bad places and bad time for people to live in. Families starved died and were unable to get food because they were not capable to work. They lived in despair and committed suicide to leave the horrible life they were living.
